Attending Tapestry Worship Services
The members of our congregation attend church in a variety of styles of clothing. You are welcome to wear business attire, shorts and sandals, or anything in between.
Audio equipment is available for the hearing impaired and we have some large print hymnals.
Please ask an usher or any congregant for assistance. Tapestry is a very welcoming spiritual home.
Religious Exploration and Child Care
Religious exploration and child care services are provided. See the Children’s Religious Exploration page for more info on the curriculum and activities of the RE program.
Childcare for infants and toddlers is available. Children of all ages are also welcome to remain in the service.
Join Us After the Service
Refreshments and fellowship time follow the service. We’d like to meet you, and hope that you’ll drop by for a visit! We are a friendly group.
Worship Service Format
Our worship services focus on creating an inclusive atmosphere, along with intellectually and spiritually challenging sermons. A large chalice, which is a central symbol of our Unitarian Universalist heritage, is lit to express the warmth of community, the fire of wisdom and the blaze of compassion.
A worship associate leads the first part of the service which includes special opening words and announcements.
A message from your Worship Committee: To maintain the spiritual nature of our Sunday services, we would prefer to reduce announcements to a minimum. We therefore strongly encourage you to place information in the newsletter and/or Order of Service rather than having it presented by the Worship Associate during the service. Announcement requests for events that arise too late to make it into the Order of Service should be submitted to the Worship Associate in the exact wording to be spoken (two sentences max. please) no later than noon on Saturday. Later requests may not be honored. In the event there are many announcements submitted or the Worship Associate questions the appropriateness of a particular announcement, she/he will discuss this with the minister and together they will decide which announcements will be made.
Our minister, or worship associate, shares specific joys and concerns within the congregation and the wider world. Then the children take part in a “Time For All Ages” before heading to their classrooms for religious exploration classes. During the service, there is also childcare available for infants and toddlers.
Our worship services also include special music, readings, silent meditation and hymns, along with a sermon by the minister or a guest speaker.
