Religious Education for Children & Youth
RECY Buzz
Dear Tapestry,
As I look ahead to March it is a very busy month but it is full of fun congregational events where you will have the opportunity to know Tapestry better. On March 14th, after the service, RECY is hosting a picnic for all members, friends, families, and pets. We are going to Irvine Regional Park to enjoy a picnic, good company, and southern California's natural beauty and wildlife. Carpooling will be available, and is recommended since it cost money to park, but we do have free zoo admission, thanks to a generous donor; it will be a fun, cheap afternoon in the sun with friends. Check the RECY board for more info. Don't forget to bring your cameras!!
Sincerely,
Katelynn Riva
Director of Religious Education for Children and Youth

Tapestry and Explorer Spring Auction
Tapestry and Explorer Spring Auction
Ways and Means has been hard at work setting up the spring auction, each Sunday you can guess who is who when looking at member's teen pictures. The auction is an awesome social event for members, friends, and families. Explorers celebrate the spring auction with their own auction, upstairs. Explorers can donate talents and gently used toys to auction off. The Explorer auction is for children and youth of all ages. Check the RECY board for more info about how the Explorer auction works and how to donate.
RECY Family Picnic
On Sunday, March 14th RECY is hosting a picnic for ALL Tapestry members, friends, and families. Join us 12 p.m. 2:00 p.m. at Irvine Regional Park. Bring blankets, cameras, games, and a picnic lunch to enjoy outdoors at the park. There is a railroad, zoo, and lots of open space to explore, for more information about the park visit the Orange County Parks webiste.
Senior High Our Whole Lives, Grade 10-12
Our Whole Lives uses a comprehensive approach, to help senior-high youth gain the knowledge, life principles and skills they need to express their sexuality in life-enhancing ways. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas:
- human development
- relationships
- personal skills
- sexual behavior
- sexual health
- society and culture
The class will begin in March and will meet 12 times, beginning with an orientation, date to be announced. Although there will be sign ups and an orientation before the class begins, right now I am assessing interest so please let me know if you hope to sign your teen up for the class or if someone you know is interested please email me, we need at least five students to run the class.

Fall Registration, Orientation, and Teacher Training
All Explorers (children & youth) need to re-register for the new semester. Registration forms available on the RECY table, above the Social Hall. A great time to register is at our fall Orientation, Sunday, September 6th, at 12
p.m., following the potluck for Rev. Tom. At the orientation you can register, find out about the new curriculum, and pick up a brochure and calendar for the 2009-2010 year.
Volunteers and Teachers
We ask that each family with children in the program have one adult volunteer a minimum of once a month. We welcome and encourage volunteers who do not have children in the program! Please contact a RECY committee member with questions or to sign up. Thank you!
