Religious Education for Children & Youth
RECY Buzz
Dear Tapestry,
Thank you for participating in the Guest at your Table Program over the past two months. The UUSC is a wonderful organization and I am blessed to have participated in raising money for their good works. Please bring a check made out to the UUSC or your FULL Guest at your Table Box to Tapestry on January 4th, there will be a designated drop off area in the Social Hall.
Also on January 4th is Tapestry’s 3rd annual Happy New Year’s Potluck, an event I look forward to all year and I hope everyone will join me in welcoming 2009. With or without food, you are encouraged to stay, play games, catch up with friends, and take home a party favor. May 2009 be filled with joy, laughter, and meaningful experience. Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Katelynn Riva
Director of Religious Education for Children and Youth

Our Whole Lives
In January, Tapestry begins Our Whole Lives, grades K-1, which will be followed by Our Whole Lives grades 7-9 beginning in March. Our Whole Lives equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. The facilitators are working hard to bring this program to Tapestry families and are very excited to have the opportunity to teach such a wonderful curriculum. Grade 7-9 parents save the dates: Mandatory Orientation for Parents and Youth is Saturday, February 21; 3-5 p.m. Classes will be Sunday afternoons, 2-5 p.m. beginning March 8th.
What is Our Whole Lives?
Our Whole Lives helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas:
- human development,
- relationships,
- personal skills,
- sexual behavior,
- sexual health, and
- society and culture.
Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives provides not only facts about anatomy and human development, but helps participants to clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality.
For more information visit the Our Whole Lives page of the UUA website.
