"Movin' On Up To The East Side"

Tapestry's new location on Madero in Mission ViejoAt long last, the lease is signed for Tapestry's new home at 23436 Madero #140 in Mission Viejo. Now the exciting part begins. Mark Fox and Carol Semelroth are working with all the committees of the congregation planning for the move out, including a congregation wide rummage sale. The same committees are analyzing the minimum furniture and storage needed for the new space, since it's smaller and we've no room to spare. Lynn Cowan is compiling a checklist of all of the tasks to be done and decisions to be made so if you think of something, let her know and she'll add it to the list. She also met with the architect, property manager, and construction manager for the new building and was pleased to see that they are very organized and easy to work with.

The first priority is the paperwork for the Conditional Use Permit. Everyone will be trying to get everything in place before summer, but that schedule is very tight. If you or your team need access to the new space for measurements or planning, send Lynn an e-mail at with as much notice as possible. She will ask the property manager to have the door unlocked and they will lock it after we are done.

$crip $tuff

Loretta Joseph, Anne Farrell, & Carol Wheeler work hard to make the scrip program an important source of needed income for our congregation. They are making an effort to persuade all households to participate on a monthly basis, even if only minimally. The emphasis now is on purchases which everyone has to make each month — supermarkets, drug stores, and gas stations, etc. They will be asking members and friends which places they patronize so that a supply of the needed scrip is always at hand.

For more info the scrip programs we particiate in see the scrip page.

Save the Trees – Get Your ComUUnique Newsletter by Email

Tapestry's ComUUnique newsletterIn May 2009 the Tapestry Board of Directors decided to make CommUUnique available mostly on email in PDF form. We are a green sanctuary. In order to save paper, trees, ink, postage and people energy, CommUUnique will be sent free in living color to members and friends of Tapestry. Those wishing a printed copy of CommUUnique may receive it on a subscription basis at $12 per year. This change took place with the July issue.

Fair Trade Coffee & Tea

Coffee Talk
Coffee-drinking dinosaurHi, your Coffee Dragon here again. My bosses are on my, uh, back again to move some of this new shipment of coffee, tea and chocolate. To top it off, my girllizard friend left me, so it’s back to the shrink again. Can you help me out by buying some Equal Exchange products? What you pay for coffee goes directly to growers’ coops and not to big coffee houses. We don’t sell here to raise money, but as a social action to help poor farmers make a decent return. Our price is $7.00, less than other organizations are charging for their coffee, tea and cocoa. Makes great gifts. You may purchase our coffee every Sunday at the self-service box at the back of the social hall. For questions, call our EE Coordinator, Melanie McCullough at .

Sunday Service Announcements

An announcement slip sheet is included in the order of service each Sunday. Please send all announcements to be printed to by Wednesday afternoon.
